Living the Consciously Awakened Life

Awakening Ways Spiritual Institute teaches the New Thought philosophy based upon the principles of Religious Science. It is a satellite campus of the Emerson Theological Institute, and soon the home of the Central Coast New Thought Seminary, which means that the majority of our many classes can be used toward any of their current programs, namely:

    • Master of Religious studies
    • Doctor of Religious studies
    • Doctor of Divinity
    • Spiritual Practitioner of Religious Science Credential
    • Minister of Religious Science Credential

The Emerson Theological Institute is a New Thought and Religious Science Theological Center accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Colleges and Seminaries. Classes taken at other New Thought Educational Centers, such as International Centers for Spiritual Living (ICSL), United Centers for Spiritual Living (UCSL), other Affiliated New Thought Network (ANTN)/ Emerson Institute affiliates and Unity School are accepted for credit at Emerson. In addition, classes completed at other private and secular schools and colleges are accepted.

Practical Spirituality 100

PS 100 - Practical Spirituality Quick Start                                              6 Hours

This course is designed for those wishing to understand their power to create a life of joy, meaning and purpose. We will explore the way life works and identify tools for working in harmony with natural law to bring about greater good. This is an ideal “starter” class for beginners or a great way to brush up for those who need a reminder of their ability to create. Also taught as “4 In 4”: The first 4 Chapters of The Science of Mind in 4 Weeks

PS 101 - Foundations of Practical Spirituality                                                 42 Hours
This is a life-transforming class in which students are introduced to the Ten Core Concepts of Religious Science and are taught how to apply these Concepts to their own lives. The class is experiential, with many guided meditations and exercises to assist students in embracing and incorporating the principles taught.

PS 102 – Treatment & Meditation: Spiritual Practices for Daily Living         33 Hours

This class focuses on developing lifetime habits of meditation and Spiritual Mind Treatment (Affirmative Prayer). Students deepen their understanding of praying affirmatively for themselves and then advance to praying for other people.

PS 103 - Self-Mastery                                                                              24 Hours                                                                                
The Self Mastery Class focuses on healing the perceived separation between personality and Spirit. Through active exploration of the creative nature of thoughts and feelings, beliefs and emotions, students have the opportunity to gain mastery in the art of living as a conscious, intentional being. It also includes a 60 day program in surrendering to the High Self.

PS 104 - Mind Body Connection                                                           24 Hours

This class is designed to give the student a greater understanding of the mind/body connection, and the important role consciousness plays in the healing process. This class is a clear, step by step process that begins with Principle, deals with the emotional issues surrounding the body, gives emphasis to effective prayer, unlearning old concepts of duality and disease, and even practical considerations such as locating health professionals who support your belief system. This class is ideal for the beginner or the advanced student who desires a deeper understanding of physical healing.

PS 105 – The Roots of Practical Spirituality                                           30 Hours

This class provides the student with an understanding of the historical roots in America of Ernest Holmes’ philosophy. Specific emphasis will be given to the works of Thomas Troward, Emma Curtis Hopkins, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

PS 106 – Abundant Living                                                             15 – 24 Hours
All of the Following require a commitment to tithe and have been taught under the Course Description PS 106 – Abundant Living:

Keys to the Kingdom                                                                                24 Hours

This seven week class helps students identify and change their limited beliefs about abundance, happiness, and success. It helps them understand the spiritual foundation of true abundance and leads toward a life lived in greater harmony with spiritual law.

The 5 Gifts for an Abundant Life                                                             24 Hours

This course is designed to immerse the participants in the full embodiment and practice of five spiritual principles: Gratitude, Intentions, Forgiveness, Tithing, and Surrender. By Practicing these gifts, participants experience a shift in consciousness that results in living the freedom of BEING the abundance of God in every area of life experience.

Financial Freedom                                                                                27 Hours

This is a powerfully transformational class with spiritual and practical tools. The participant will: develop a greater awareness of God as the Source of your Financial Freedom; develop new attitudes and beliefs about money; develop spiritual practices that will duplicate the nature of Spirit in your financial affairs; develop practical methods to consciously track and use their money for their greater Good.

PS 200 - Living Spiritual Principles                                                 90 Hours

This 30 week class is devoted to increasing self awareness, deepening spiritual practices, and demonstrating metaphysical principles in everyday life experiences. Class discussion, sharing and experiential processes help participants understand and integrate the concepts and ideas presented in the classes.

PS 300 – Advanced Practical Spirituality                                                        90 Hours

These classes help the participant to walk in conscious awareness of Spirit at all times in their lives. Emphasis is placed on continuing to identify and release beliefs that block full expression of their Divine Nature and embodying the principles of Religious Science through the daily practice of Spiritual Mind Treatment and daily spiritual practices, including meditation. Although not exclusively limited to those pursuing licensed practitioner statuses, PS 300 completes the formal education needed to apply for the Licensed Practitioner Internship.

Curricum: PS 101-Foundations, PS 102-Treatment and Meditation, at least 4 PS 100 level electives, PS 200, PS 300 and a one year internship.

Minister of Religious Science:

Curruculum: PS 101-Foundations, PS 102-Treatment and Meditation, at least 4 PS 100 level electives, PS 200, PS 300, PS 400 (375 instructional hours of ministerial studies) and an 18 month internship.
